Blue Screen of death
This is my first attempt at using this program, downloaded it today and installed it on my WinXPpro system. Started the program, and popped in my copy of Fifth Element BluRay into my external USB BluRay drive (Asus SBC-06D1S-U). The program started to scan the disk, and then the whole system blue screened. I rebooted and tried it again with the same result. Any ideas?

Hi!
1) If I remember correctly, under XP, you must be logged on as "Administrator"
2) Try another BluRay disc and see if you get different/better resukts

Do I need to be logged in as "Administrator", or does my login just need admin rights? I am not logged in as administrator, but I do have admin rights.

The following is a quote of what appears on the "Download" page here:
Computer administrator privileges are required on Windows to run the beta version. This is limitation of Windows SCSI application programming interface. Eventually MakeMKV will not require administrator privileges to run.

I have also now tried this with 3 Bluray discs. They all rip fine with DVDfab on the same system. Does your program just not support XP?

Re: Blue Screen of death
I'm sure MakeMKV DOES function under XP.
"mike_admin" will likely provide further insight shortly.
Have you tried signing on as "Administrator", rather than just establishing administrator privileges?

Re: Blue Screen of death
MakeMKV works on XP. I'd say you have a defective enclosure or burner.

That would seem to indicate that there's no hardware problem (enclosure or burner), wouldn't it?I have also now tried this with 3 Bluray discs. They all rip fine with DVDfab on the same system.

Thanks for the replies, sent in a memory dump of the bluescreen to help mike troubleshoot. Hopefully it is fixable

nope, I never got it to work. I ended up using DVDfab until this is sorted.
