I keep getting errors when trying to back up a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy on Bluray. Here is the log.

Not knowing how you're powering the drive, there are two possibilities.

Insufficient 5v power will cause drives like this to go "off-line" when they're spun faster than they have power for. You get a read error, followed by an I/O error, as the operating system tries to deal with the drive as it resets. Usually happens late in the rip, and you can see the rip speed climb until it reaches a certain point, and things go dead.

Errors on the disk, which the drive spends too much time trying to work around, and the operating system pops an I/O error in response.

The first issue will have read errors the move around between rip attempts. The second will have them occur at just about the same point on multiple attempts.

Cleaning usually fixes the second. The first has to be dealt with by either getting sufficient power to the drive, OR slowing done MakeMKV's writing, so that it doesn't make the drive spin over its limit.

Thanks! I tried cleaning the disc and that didn’t help. I will check the speed in makemkv next.

Currently, the only way to slow MakeMKV's writing is to use a slow media (like a USB flash drive) as the target. And the flash drive has to be formatted using either ExFAT or NTFS if you're dealing with anything bigger than 4GB in size.

I would say that this is a bad spot on the disc. Can happen, also on brand new discs. The position is around 9.87x.xxx.xxx (bytes counted from the start, in this case approx 9,5GB). Tested it in two different drives (serval discs), same error on nearly the same position. Ordered a new disc and the problem was gone.
