Captain America - Libredrive compatibility?

Post by extranet »

Hi

I have the ASUS 161-BDT f/w version 3.0.1 and I have been able to rip many discs but the new Captain America discs are asking for LibreDrive compatibility. My drive was already downgraded to a UHD friendly firmware so why this?

What does "asking for libredrive" mean?

"Libredrive compatible drive is required to read this disk"

And you have allow online checked in the settings? It might help to see a screen shot of makemkv showing the info for your drive. Something isn't right there.

I have read the forum pages and apparently there is a patch but what I don't know is if I need it. If I do then I am not able to patch my drive because it is connected via USB/SATA.

No. If it's 3.01 then you don't need to flash anything. That's why I want to see what makemkv says about the drive.

OK ignore this. I've just checked a disk I ripped before and it gets the same error. Thanks for trying to help.

Actually the story is a little weirder. It started working for one of my older disks but not this one until after I used a different account on my PC. Even then it only worked after I manually added the hashed keys. After I did that it kind of reset and started working for this disk. I'm sure I'm missing something here.

Thanks again :)

Did you check the preferences I told you to look at? Specifically the Allow contacting web server... setting MUST be checked and there can't be anything blocking the connection like a firewall. Hashed keys are no longer needed. They are downloaded from MakeMKV's server.

The preferences were never the issue since I don't change them. For whatever reason the hashed keys were not getting downloaded but finally they downloaded even though I didn't make any changes to the preferences. As I said, it's all a little weird and I may have missed something but everything is working now.

Thanks again.

Could have been something on the system blocking it or who knows what. As long as it's working now you're good.

I'm beginning to think that it might have been my antivirus software which seems to run a little differently on my Admin account than it does on my non Admin one.

Very possible indeed. Anything that would block the connection MakeMKV makes to download the LibreDrive support and the new hashed keys would cause the behavior you saw.

im assuming your drive is a ASUS 16D1HT and not a 161-BDT?

the staying on 3.01 times are way way over, you need to keep up, LOL

the 16D1HT Should be Flashed to MK Firmware 3.10
