LG BH16NS50 drive

I've looked in the sticky thread for UHD friendly drives, and I notice that my drive is not listed (LG BH16NS50) but other drives in the same series are. Before I go ahead and spend some money on a 4k Blu-ray is my drive a UHD friendly drive or am I out of luck? I have never upgraded the firmware of the drive. I'd rather not buy a 4k Blu-ray without knowing as they are quite expensive and I don't have a 4k Blu-ray player hooked up to my TV yet.

When you start MakeMKV, what does it say about your drive in the Info box?

I just got my first UHD disc today and it seems to be working!

Well, it looks that way. Just start ripping. It will either work or it won't. Simple.

It works! Thank you very much for your help. Takes 2 hours to do a complete rip though. This seems to be something that I'll leave overnight to complete.

Edit: After 30 minutes of ripping it is only going to take 1 hour which is much better.

Yea, it's variable speed and the different layers impact the speed. Usually ripping takes about 45 minutes on average.
