Is any LibreDrive information available for it? If yes, please post everything (except the serial number) and I'll tell you what you have.

If no LibreDrive info on main screen, then do the following: With version 1.14.3 (important!) open any BD disc. Quit MakeMKV, look at log file.
You will see the line that reads like "SDFvxx: HL-DT_ST-xxxxxxxxxx" - this is your drive id, it includes serial number.
Post this string (delete the serial number part).

Thanks for the confirmation. Overall, it seems that
N - USA
R - Taiwan
U - Europe

The exact differences (if any) are unknown.

I've owned 50 of these so far and I've yet to see a -X letter.

Does your BU40N have the UHD logo on the front? I've just ordered one with the UHD logo, just curious as to what firmware works with it.

No, I can see what you posted above, but there are several variations of BU40N, eg with and without UHD logo on front, I asked which version you have.

You need to chill out 'man', this is a forum for people to help each other

With and Without the logo make no difference, what matters is the region:

N - USA
R - Taiwan
U - Europe

again ALL this info is in this thread!

im not trying to be a jerk, it's just frustrating when people ask the same questions that have been answered a million times, all because the didnt do and research before posting!

just a FYI mine did have the UHD Logo, and i used the N version as i bought it from amazon in the US.

i had another one without the logo bought from overseas, also flashed with the N version, both work fine!

Cheers. I have searched on the bu40n and from what I've read I should say steer clear of the non UHD labelled model. Nobody sells the uhd model in the UK, I've ordered from the US
