your dv mp4 looks to have been converted properly. It seems to be a Vizio issue with certain models, particularly the f1's (latest) as the e0's work fine. the pq65-f1 doesn't trigger dv, yet the m65-e0 works perfectly. Vizio tech support is working on it, as they are able to recreate the issue now, so I'll let you know when I hear update. also, for less than $200, the Sony x700 uhd bd player can play both .mp4 in DV as well as the large .m2ts file (from the bdmv/streams folder of your backed up uhd disc) in DV. the .m2ts is better for sound as you get full hd-audio + atmos (with a 2nd hdmi out port for legacy AVRs), where as the .mp4 is lossy eac3 audio at best. 3 confirmed Cinavia affected movies were tested using both files from usb and dlna, and neither of them had stopped playback either
That is nice to know. I might look in to getting one as I was disappointed that my XboneS wasn't capable of playing my Dolby Vision blu's due to Vizio not pushing a update >.>
Thanks for the heads up!
EDIT: I have someone that is selling a UP970. Will that play the m2ts from bdmv streams folder?

Unfortunately you cannot play .m2ts file in DV. I have just tried on Sony X700 and it played in HDR10
Note that when you turn on DV in settings, even HDR10 video shows on a TV as DV.

I most certainly can :p what tv do you have? maybe double check all of your settings. load up a usb hdd formatted as exfat with a bunch of .m2ts files right on the root and you're good to go.
the first two ways play properly. but as you can see in the 3rd link (m2ts from dlna) it triggers DV on the tv but the x700 says hdr, so not sure what's happening there and what to believe. but that's fine because dlna sucks on the x700 anyway as seeking forward and back is awful and playback freezes up from time to time etc, whereas usb playback is rock solid.

Just bought a x700 for $140. Wally World has them on sale

Nice! Could you try a few .m2ts files from movies with known Cinavia? I'm still trying to confirm if it's totally ok or not, just so busy though. I know there are programs like DVDFab Cinavia Removal, or DeUHD etc worst case, but it would be cool if no messing around was required

Just have to see which one's have Cinavia and I will be more then happy to test.

Just tried it with RPO and it reported DoVi with playback off a ext.
EDIT: I see what's happening. The TV thinks that it is DoVi due to Blu-Ray Player sending the DoVi signal but when checking the internal display it shows HDR for the .m2ts. I haven't tested it internal with a .mp4 but I believe that will work fine. So there will need to be converting.

weird I only get DV on tv but not x700 using dlna. external hdd shows DV on both every single time.. you obviously have dolby vision turned on in x700 settings so I'm not sure what's missing. what TV do you have out curiosity?

e55-f1. Tv won't play DoVi mp4's on the USB. Only reason I got the x700. DoVi MP4's do work perfectly fine on the x700, showing DoVi on both TV and X700. But yeah, the .m2ts shows DoVi on the TV since the setting is turned on (Think it's being forced since it is turned on) but in the top left corner of display it showed HDR.

ah the e-series. interesting. I have tried it on a pq65-f1 and it doesn't play mp4 over usb in DV either. yet mp4 works great on the x700. however m2ts works great as well. and the m65-e0 I tried does actually play mp4 over usb in dv no problem. haven't tried it on the x700 though, but I imagine it will perform as well as the pq65-f1 or better. seems to be a bit of a fw crap-shoot on Vizio's end whether it will work or not, depending on what model you have :/
People recommending the Sony X700 as a Dolby Vision media player should be a little careful.
It does correctly play back dual-layer DV if it is muxed into MP4 format, as described in this thread (meaning no HD audio). However, it doesn't play back dual-layer DV in M2TS format.
If you try and play a file like that via DLNA, it plays as HDR10. If you copy the file onto an external drive and connect directly via USB, then you'll get Dolby Vision output, but it still isn't actually reading the DV metadata from the file - instead it is simply reading the HDR10 stream and then converting that to DV on the fly.
The results still look quite good doing that (and if the M2TS file is only HDR10 in the first place then it will convert it to DV, and that can look very good); but it's not the same as actually using the dual-layer DV information in the file.

How did you get it for 140? It's showing 159 for me.
Must of changed since yesterday. When I purchased it, it was at $138 and change. I just checked and now I am getting quoted the price you just mentioned.

so forget mp4 for a second and just talk m2ts.
Even when both the player and the tv are showing dolby vision, it's still faking it? because that's what happens I play both a uhd disc and an m2ts from usb hdd. there's no difference I can find in any setting or menu or info display that is different between disc and m2ts usb. how is one to tell? I can see it being fake over dlna though, where only one of the two devices is showing dolby vision - as I said it seemed iffy, but I honestly can't see the dif with disc vs usb...
