so the NS60 v1.00 firmware in the link above cannot be used to downgrade with the patched flasher?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 1:20 am@Billycar11,Billycar11 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 12:37 amnice thank you so much for this i will make a new video later but it might be a few days here is
LG WH16NS60 1.00

LG WH14NS40 1.02
LG BU40N 1.00
Asus BW-161HT 3.02

Are these bin files extracted from the official LG Firmware Update tools? As Mike said, dumps or cleaned dumps of any sort are not suitable. If you have the official LG firmware updaters could you please upload them.
Thanks
i have no way to dump my NS60 with firmware 1.01 on it

Thank you, sir! Amazing work!!!!!Blackened2687 wrote:Mike, thank you very much for that info! Awesome as always!
That's right, some of these firmwares were dumped from drives and cleaned by me. Of course they will match firmware images bundled with official flashers, since locations of EEPROM data are same for all firmwares.
By the way, if you use "EEPROM data mover" with your raw dump (containing all the calibration data, serial number and so on) and a clean firmware image (as supplied with official flasher) vice-versa, you will get a clean firmware image made of your dump.

I believe now with the new info I have from mike it will work I will confirm this in the next few days have a few WH16NS60s coming in but currently my link is down I will put it back up in a few hours with some more fw too. I personally have used the ns 60 1.00 with the unlocked flasher so it should be goodspl147 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 1:36 pmso the NS60 v1.00 firmware in the link above cannot be used to downgrade with the patched flasher?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 1:20 am@Billycar11,Billycar11 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 12:37 amnice thank you so much for this i will make a new video later but it might be a few days here is

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
Hello good people of this forum. I have been reading all the detail on the 36 page long post here on downgrading the firmware on an Asus friendly drive I purchased and the numerous steps involved and then stumbled upon this thread upon registering for the forum.
Is this patched updater what I am looking for to downgrade my Asus from 3.03 to a UHD friendly 3.02 in one simple go or are my eyes deceiving me?

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
I took my NS60 1.00 image that I had made for dosflash, edited it with the "magic byte" (LOL) and just flashed it. Worked perfectly and MakeMKV now works with that drive again.
Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
yes, it's all you need. make sure you are flashing the UHD Friendly 3.02 and not the re released NOT Friendly 3.02Captain Ron wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 6:29 pmHello good people of this forum. Hey MartyMcNuts, Just so we are clear, If I buy an Asus BW-16D1HT and put it in an external enclosure, and connect it via usb to my laptop, using the patched update in your post and the 3.02 byte patched firmware from your other post, i can flsh the drives back to firmware 3.02 ?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 6:55 amEven Better!!!
I have patched the official ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.02 Firmware Updater using Mike's instruction and used this to downgrade a BW-16D1HT-PRO with 3.03 to a BW-16D1HT with 3.02 by using just this exe.
The drive was connected via USB and firmware update (downgrade!) worked flawlessly!!!!
Here is the before & after:

after.jpg
Here is the file:
ASUS ODD FW 3.02 Updater for BW-16D1HT (Patched).zip
This is a patched version of the official ASUS Firmware Updater, so I am pretty sure it can only be used to downgrade a BW-16D1HT with 3.03 to 3.02 (not for cross-flashing other drives).
I previous decided to give up with going down the UHD ripping route, just because of all the hoops etc, but if the above is correct, then thats very exciting, thanks in advance,
P.S great thread, and respect to all the info provided
Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
Yes, the one he posted is the official 3.02 firmware flasher (before they re-released 3.02 to block UHD friendliness Grr) patched to be able to downgrade. That's the ONLY change he made to the firmware. So yes, if you have a 3.03 ASUS and run this flasher, it will downgrade it to 3.02 perfectly. Which is pretty awesome!MaDMaX** wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 10:44 pmHey MartyMcNuts, Just so we are clear, If I buy an Asus BW-16D1HT and put it in an external enclosure, and connect it via usb to my laptop, using the patched update in your post and the 3.02 byte patched firmware from your other post, i can flsh the drives back to firmware 3.02 ?

thanks that is pretty awesome, but i now have another question, im just reading another thread which seems to suggest i dont even need to do this now if i buy "real UHD" drive aka WH16NS60 and BU50N
is this also true or have i read that wrong, i also appreciate the thread mentions this will be the case once MKV supports these drives! which should be shortly?
Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
That is technically correct. Mike will add support for the NS60 1.01 firmware (and BU50N whatever firmware that's on) soon and then you won't have to worry about downgrading the firmware. He has not given any time frames for that support, but, given that he already supports the NS60 1.00 firmware I don't imagine it'd be too long. Once you have a supported drive, this next part is crucial....NEVER TOUCH THE FIRMWARE AGAIN! Once your drive is supported for LibreDrive mode, you're done and you win.MaDMaX** wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 11:17 pmHi SamuriHL

HA HA thanks, yeah i get that, having owned various home theatre stuff including an LG oled tv, i have learnt never to just jump in and update to the latest f/w straight away, and as you say Never!!! in this case, thanks for the swift repliesSamuriHL wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 11:23 pmThat is technically correct. Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
@MaDMaX @Captain Ron,
As @SamuriHL said, I have patched the official ASUS 3.02 Updater (see last post of page 1) so that is all that you need to downgrade a BW-16D1HT from 3.03 to 3.02, even via USB.
This makes it a hell of a lot easier!!!
