Sorry for the double post, I was actually able to get the automatic tool to prepare the proper 3.02 firmware. Everything is working Perfectly!!! Thank you all for your post and instructions.
What do you mean by "automatic tool"?
1st post in this thread...

Steps for importing data from backup firmwares : (Automatic Method)
Unzip the
EEPROM Data Mover attached below.
Open it, select first the dumped original firmware.
Select now a clean firmware to insert data (clean firmwares can be found here).
Type now a firmware name (i.e. TEST.BIN) which will be the one you will eventually need to flash on your drive.

Just did this method with by BW-16D1HT. Worked perfectly.
DOSFLASH on FreeDOS dump, to EEPROM Mover, to DOSFLASH erase, then DOSFLASH write.
I'm on 3.01 and reading UHD as we speak.
Quick question though, I re-purposed the enclosure from my ASUS BW-16D1X-U. So now I have a Pioneer drive with Asus firmware on it, and printed right on the front of the dang thing is BDXL. Is there anyone who has tried to write different firmware on this one to support reading UHD? Otherwise, I'll probably just sell it on CL.
Thanks for the great guide!

There are two levels of BDXL. The initial level is "more layers"; the higher level is "higher bit-rate on each layer".
UHD uses both the extra layers and the higher bit rate, which early BDXL drives cannot do. The LG drives signify the higher level via the "SVC CODE" being NS50 or higher.

Hi everyone. I used the Windows Method up until step 7 for dumping the 1.03 firmware that came with my ASUS BW-16D1HT drive. Would someone please create the downgraded firmware for the drive. I have attached the 1.03 firmware dump of my drive.
Thank you,

I purchased Asus BW-16D1HT recently and it came with firmware 3.03, manufactured May 2018.
I'm following TeddyRaspin guide and managed to save original firmware with DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40.exe. and then again with DOSFLASH.zip. I'm kind of stuck at Hex editing part, I was wondering if I provide two of my firmware backups, could someone create for me new firmware file based on clean (I have those too) Asus firmware, either 3.01 or 3.02, so I can red UHD disks?

Simple. Buy a new UHD Friendly drive. That drive is too old. Asus 1.0 firmware drives predate UHD compatability by several years. If you attempt an update to newer 3.0+ firmware you’ll brick the drive and simply end up with a nice paperweight or doorstop.

I ended up using EEPROM data mover to create new firmware file then flash my drive. On first try, I got drive saying that firmware level was BOOT and it would not open it's door, so I tried again and got it to 3.01. Driver works, it will read DVD/BD etc. but it still won't read UHD disks. When you insert UHD disk, it spins up, makes this weird seeking sound for a while like is trying to read it but then it stops and that is it.

Hey TeddyRaspin are you still able to do downgrades? I sent you a PM but for some reason its stuck in my outbox.
I have grabbed the ROM from my drive but I am not confident with the Hex editor

Ok I had a look at it and wasn't confident if someone else would be able to create me a rom that would be much appreciated, I can send over the rom I pulled from the drive.
