Blu-ray drive not recognised

#1 Post by mguinane » Wed Jan 02, 2019 9:46 pm

Hello, hoping someone may be able to help ...

Problem is my external Blu-ray drive is not recognised by MakeMKV, it is not included in the 'Source' drop-down list (which only contains my laptops internal DVD drive).

I am running MakeMKV 1.14.2 under Windows 10 Pro 64bit. I can browse a Blu-ray disk as drive F: under Windows Explorer.

I've tried running MakeMKV as administrator, and also have tried installing an older version of MakeMKV (randomly chose 1.10.10), neither of these made any difference.

I've also tried doing File > Open files, and selecting the index.bdmv file on the disk. On doing this I get the following prompt:
The folder F: appears to be a root folder on optical drive, however drive can't be accessed by program. The operation will most likely fail.
When I hit OK, it starts the 'opening Blu-ray disc' process. When this is finished (after about 2 mins) I get the following message:
Opening files on harddrive at F:
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\Marcus/.MakeMKV/MKB_v28_Breaking_Bad-_Season_3-_Disc_1_7CF4.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc
Under the info panel, it lists the drive info, but says 'No disc inserted'.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks! :)

Is the drive detected as an optical drive? This is indicated with an other icon in the Explorer drive list.
Good Luck :)

Is this an remote drive?

"The folder F: appears to be a root folder on optical drive, however drive can't be accessed by program. The operation will most likely fail."

This msg says, that the drive is not working like an optical drive.
Good Luck :)

No, not a remote drive, direct USB connection to laptop.

I've been able to play a disk using blu-ray player software (free trial downloaded) so assume the drive is working ...
