Thanks again MartyMcNuts!

My motherboard died last Thursday... talk about bad timing. >.<
New parts installed yesterday but that no longer had an IDE option.
Luckily my old server does have an IDE mode!

Used the windows 7 usb again and this time erase/write flash with DOSFLASH.
First time it failed though, wrong firmware error 02 if I remember correctly.
Did the erase/write flash a second time and it finished without error and reported writing successful!

Ripped my first 4K disc (Justice League) today! :D
Your welcome! Sorry to hear about your computer dying... Lucky you have the server! Glad to hear it's now working! Now get ripping!!!
Cheers :D

Unfortunately my bios's on both of my machines either only offer sata with no ide option or sata or raid.. i guess i'm out of luck short of finding another machine i take it?
Or is there a firmware updater that will work when in sata mode?
You can see if this will work for you:

I bought a new PC with BW16D1HT 3 weeks ago and I've been waiting for someone to make a program like that
for ASUS because mine BW16D1HT came as 3.03 and the modern motherboard doesn't have STAT as IDE feature anymore.

And I guess this probably only works for LG ROMs not ASUS right? Did a few tries and no surprised no work.
Looks like the only way to do this is boot my old PC up. Sigh.

I used the windows method described in the OP, but wasn't able to work out the Hex editing.
Can someone use my FW dump to create an edited 1.02 FW for my LG BH16NS55?

A request that, when the person needs one of these "custom firmware" files receives it, could the message authors delete the attachment from their message?

We're now up to several hundred "one person only" attachments that should have gone as Private Message attachments. And I've seen more than one message saying, "NO! You shouldn't use that file! It was made for someone else!"

I realize that new users can't send PMs right away, but they CAN receive them. And, when they delete them, it cleans up the attached files.

There is a limit on attached file space, and we've hit it several times over the past couple of years. When we hit it, the clean-up to make space isn't quite as discriminating as you who post the files could be... if you catch my drift.

Here's a better idea, someone throw up a quick video on how to use the data mover tool. It's extremely easy and there should be no reason, if one has gotten that far, that they'd need someone else to perform that 10 second procedure :)

im fine with deleting it after they use it or after a week i will delete my old ones not trying to cause any trouble.
im also fine with making a video how to do it would take 5 mins but the problem is people seeing it if its not in original post if @TeddyRaspin will fit it in im willing to make it.

Oh I wasn't suggesting you make it, in fact I should not have suggested it at all and just done it :-)

Hello all-

I have a (hopefully stupid) question. Trying to follow the provided steps in the OP, and this all may be a bit out of my league but I can't resist a challenge, I guess.

After booting into the Windows 7 desktop, I simply have no mouse or keyboard control. They are wired modern Logitech devices. Am I missing something obvious?

Cheers.

Never see it do that but just use a different windows pe long as it's 32 bit you can do everything required here.

I'm willing to bet one of the stupid Auto driver configs in that pe hide your mouse and keyboard they will probably work for a short time when it turns on but then it's trash meme welcome to Julia queen junk kicks in

Well I made it. Following the first page windows method and via eeprom with a clean 3.0 firmware for my BW16DHT and it was easy enough that only took me like 15mins but it's still annoying that I have to remove my BDROM and plug into my dad's one (my old PC) and re-plug into my PC which is a big pain to me since my case is not that easy to remove BDROM and I was referring to the upper links method not the forum method tho.

Hi,

I have firmware 3.03 of the ASUS BW-16D1HT and would appreciate help with the hex editing (dump attached). How easy is it to get a copy of "clean" 3.02 firmware? I've been searching for a few hours and have had much more luck finding the 3.01 firmware and "dirty" 3.02 firmware.

Thank you!

When the instructions mention

"On the backup firmware (the dumped one) select hex range starting from 0x1E8000 offset to 0x1E84FF and copy it in the same range of the new firmware. (**)"

Does that mean including the entry for "0x1E84FF" or going to right BEFORE (and NOT including) the entry for "0x1E84FF"?

Thanks!

P.S. Sorry for the two quick posts, but I apparently I had to have a moderator approve them (probably because I just joined), and wasn't sure if the first one went through.
