Trouble Ripping with LG WH16NS40

I purchased one of these drives several weeks ago. Some movies ripped ok, others would not rip even after repeated cleaning etc.. Eventually, it seemed the drive would not rip anything, so I returned it and got another to try. Same issue with this drive. This happens even on discs that look perfect. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal? Anything I can do to get these ripped?

BTW, both drives came with V1.03. I was able to downgrade the first drive to V1.02 with the directions on this site. I don't have any 4K discs to try, but at least that was successful.

I should mention that all of these discs play fine in a regular blu-ray player. Is there a drive that is better for reading standard blu-rays?

As was pointed out, when dealing with BD issues, the BD forum is the normal place to work from. Especially since BDs don't have all the worries about firmware version and drive type that UHD has.

That said, the issue is that the disk isn't readable in spots. Cleaning it should be your first priority; There's more information about that in this topic. Most likely, the DRIVE STATUS errors are the drive spending too much time trying to read the smudged areas, and the operating system getting impatient.
