I have an internal dvd drive in my mac and was borrowing an external blu-ray player from my brother. I experienced the slow (lots of reads) problem using the blu-ray drive on some discs with 1.14.0 but 1.14.1 fixed that problem. I gave the blu-ray drive back and was trying to use 1.14.1 with my internal dvd drive. Makemkv sees the disc and content fine, but when i hit the makemkv button after a tiny bit of activity makemkv just kinda sits there doing nothing. It isn't constantly spinning up the drive, like 1.14.0 did with blu-rays. It appears to be doing nothing. No drive sound. I waited over 9 minutes, nothing. I tried 1.14.1 with two discs that I've done before with makemkv, same results. Installed 1.14.0 again, tried same discs, same nothing. I installed 1.12.3, boom, instant file creation with 1.12.3.
I installed 1.14.1 again, using the same disc as used in 1.12.3 above, it is paused at output size of 7.6k after 7 minutes of time.
Any questions just ask.
Thanks,
Greg

Re: mac 1.14.1 problems
This is with DVD, right? Can you please enable debug log, then do the MKV with 1.14.1, wait for about 5 minutes when it hangs, quit MakeMKV and see if the log contains anything at all. Please send the log to support@makemkv.comgreginpa wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 3:16 pmwhen i hit the makemkv button after a tiny bit of activity makemkv just kinda sits there doing nothing. Re: mac 1.14.1 problems
Tried MKV 1.14.1 on my Mac OSX and works fine in ripping Blu-Rays and DVDs. I’m using a Pioneer BDR-2209 UBK and Pioneer BDR-207dbk and works well with MakeMKV the past 5+ years.
Re: mac 1.14.1 problems
Hi Mike,
I am experiencing a similar issue on my iMac 27" late 2009 model running High Sierra. Everything was working with v1.12.3. I upgraded to 1.14.1 and experienced the super long initial startup described in another thread. Then tried a DVD and noticed the output size of the first rip stayed at 6.2k with elapsed time increasing. The analysis recognized the titles and allowed selection. The rip stage hangs. I enabled log capture but I cannot see any logfile generated.
I upgraded further to 1.14.2 and experienced the same results.
I have a macbook pro 2017 running Mojave and 1.14.1 that was upgraded from 1.12.3 a week or so ago. I connected to the same drive and I'm able to run dvd rip without problems.
Mike, I am guessing you have a system/os/app issue in 1.14.1 that extends into 1.14.2. As my macbook pro works I will keep the iMac at 1.12.3 until you can resolve issue.

Re: mac 1.14.1 problems
As a followup, after downgrading my iMac 27" late 2009 (High Sierra) from 1.14.2 to 1.12.3, DVD rip worked as expected - same drive, same DVD as what failed for both 1.14.1 and 1.14.2.
