Just wanted to post another semi success story (fingers crossed that it worked, but I can't test it until later today!)
Drive: Asus BW-16D1HT (BH16NS40) with 3.3
- Create Win 7 PE on a USB (1GB USB was fine for this, in case anyone is worried about size)
- Copied DOSFLASH32 (all files) and 3.02 firmware to the USB (GOOD 3.02, not slyly-updated 3.02 from Asus)
- had to set SATA configuration to ATA on this machine (Dell Precision) via BIOS, as expected.
- Disconnected all drives in the PC and only plugged Asus drive into the primary SATA port
- Booted from USB into Win7 PE
- ran DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40, and it saw my drive. Selected Read Flash. Made multiple copies
- Ran the EEPROM data mover and saved the new flash file. Made multiple copies
- ran DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40 again... ERROR. Problem loading portio32.sys ("Oh no!")
- remembered that I already had DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40 running
can't run two instances at the same time, silly rabbit.
- Selected Erase Flash in DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40. Point of no return?
- Selected Write Flash in DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40. Used updated file from EEPROM data mover.
- 30 seconds later, flash was done. Closed and re-opened DOSFLASH32_BH16NS40. Confirmed firmware now shows 3.02.
Asus BW-16D1HT (BH16NS40) with 3.02 is now ready to test. Hoping it goes well.
