I have a Asus BW-16D1HT and no stand-alone-player (so I cannot verify whether something is wrong with the not working discs).
The Asus is connected via SATA-USB-Adapter.
The drive works with some discs.
I was able to copy the UHD Kong: Skull Island & Atomic Blonde.
But with 2 other UHD I have the problem that the drive (windows) don't recognise them.
I mean that the OS doesn't show me that a disc is in the drive.
The Asus is spinning again and again.
The discs are Independent Day & Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
The drive seems to be okay since it recognises still the first two discs.
What could be the reason?
I am using Windows 8.1 but it doesn't seem to be an OS problem (tried to connect the drive to Win 7)
The drive was manufactured in January 2018.

Re: Cannot read some discs
Also, I am assuming that the discs are all new since you don't have a stand alone player. Woodstocks question is something that we need to know. My question is this. Have you cleaned the discs? I recommend doing that for all discs. The best way to do it is to us a 50/50 mix of distilled water and rubbing alcohol with a clean microfiber cloth. Good Luck.
Re: Cannot read some discs
I tried to clean the discs before - with no luck.
I use MakeMKV v1.12.3 win (x64 release).
But shouldn't the file manager of windows show the files of the discs - regardless of the version of MakeMKV?
Or are some discs always being 'hidden'?

Re: Cannot read some discs
There is a documented problem with v1.12.3. You should go back and install v1.12.2 and your problem should go away.
Re: Cannot read some discs
I don't find an official download link for version 1.12.2
Re: Cannot read some discs
In the message (currently) at the top of the General section on 1.12.3, the link to old versions is:

Thanks!
I tried
https://www.makemkv.com/download/
and
https://www.makemkv.com/download/Setup_ ... 1.12.2.exe
and couldn't find the old versions.
Edit:
Version 1.12.2 showed the disc but I got the following errors
Or could the drive have problems?

Re: Cannot read some discs
It seems to be the disc.
After trying several times the drive became very warm.
And when I ejected the disc now - it had a crack.
