MacGruber - Which Version?

#1 Post by mike_mgoblue » Wed Sep 26, 2018 6:50 pm

I am trying to figure out which version of MacGruber is the correct one to download from the Blu-ray.

The first has the following information:

Title information
Name: MacGruber
Source file name: 00810.mpls
Duration: 1:30:16
Chapters count: 20
Size: 21.1 GB
Segment count: 1
Segment map: 10
File name: MacGruber_t00.mkv

The second has the following information:

Title information
Name: MacGruber
Source file name: 00802.mpls
Duration: 1:34:53
Chapters count: 20
Size: 19.8 GB
Segment count: 1
Segment map: 802
File name: MacGruber_t01.mkv

Does anyone know which version is the correct version or what the difference is between these two versions? ... Thank you.

I have now learned the shorter version is actually a larger file and it is the "Theatrical" version. The longer version is actually a shorter file and is an "Extended" version. It was confusing to me that the "longer" version was actually a smaller file.

The reason for this is because the theatrical version uses a higher bitrate with the AVC video codec while the extended version uses a smaller bitrate with the VC-1 video codec.
