fake playlists - Three Musketeers (2011 - US Retail Amazon) - Java installed

#1 Post by tahlyn » Fri Aug 31, 2018 12:35 am

Latest version of MakeMKV (1.12.3) and Java version is 1.8.0_181-b13, but no feature movie listed. It doesn't seem that Java is being invoked. Tried current version as well as 1.12.2 and 1.12.1 on 2 separate PCs (win10, MakeMKV, and Java; all latest updates). Same result.

Link to zip with non-decrypted full disc backup (minus stream folder) and log file.

thanks.

tahlyn, just for grins, try adding the full path (including 'java.exe') under preferences > Protection. Restart MakeMKV & take another stab. Maybe Java's just not being detected automatically? Simple enough to try.

Java is only excecuted if needed, means the Blu-ray contains the relevant Java code for execution. MakeMKV shows the Java execution (with filename from where) or failure only in the Debug log and not in the MakeMKV info area.

Specification of Java in the preferences is only needed for special Java installations (only for Windows, no idea what is with Mac or Linux). MakeMKV detects a standard installation over the Windows registry and can find the location over this way.
Good Luck :)

I'm aware. Although I rarely need it (& don't know that it's needed here), I noted that new versions of Java install to a version-specific folder, hence a path change with each update. In my limited testing, MakeMKV didn't always 'keep up', so I thought it worth verifying.

gave the custom path a try on both PCs, same result.

just to make sure Java detection was still working, I decided to pull out a couple of movies that had fake playlists that I had successfully saved before, John Wick and John Wick Chapter 2. When I spin up either disc in MakeMKV on either PC, I get this (with or without the custom path):

Using Java runtime from C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_181\bin\java.exe

and when they're done loading, I see the FPL_MainFeature for both, so I know the Java detection part is working.

I just think these particular movies with fake playlists that I'm posting (Source Code, Safe, Three Musketeers) haven't been added to some type of MakeMKV database yet, so hopefully they will soon. Thanks for the suggestion about the custom path.

I tried another program and it displayed 17 "good" playlists which doesn't sound right. Of the 17 playlists listed by the other program, playlist 731 is missing in MakeMKV. Also in MakeMKV, of the 16 playlists that are listed in the other program, none have the same segment order. Some of the playlists are 2:21:02 (141 min). Case cover (barcode 2519213148, smaller number below barcode 66121390) says the movie is only 110 minutes (as well as many websites).

I went with 437 angle 1 based on this link:

- 1:50:32 (110 min)

and watched the entire movie. 437 seems to be the correct playlist, at least for my disc (my bardcode and smaller number matched a user from the link above).
