Disney Bluray Rips

#1 Post by BigDaddyDuergar » Fri Aug 17, 2018 2:59 am

So I'm not entirely sure what the issue is here, but I'll do my best to give you all the info in one go:

I have two disney Bluray movies I would like to rip to my HD to share across my network with my kids. Avengers Infinity War and Maleficent. Neither one of them read in my bluray drive. It shows up as a blank disk.

I've tested other blurays I own (Cars 3, Pan, Hunger Games) and they show up just fine. Is there something that I'm missing to get them to read for makemkv?

My Bluray drive is a LG Blu Ray Drive Model WH16NS40.

I've checked the firmware and it looks to be up to date (1.03).

Are you sure you didn't get a 4K UHD version, instead of the Bluray?

Disney movies usually rip well, so you don't have to yell things that are inappropriate for children when you're copying them. :)

Just to clarify, these two discs are bluray and not UHD bluray?

Yeah, just regular old bluray. Plays in my xbox one (not S or X, old school)

Did you test the other discs after the two in question were not being seen by MakeMKV?

It's not just makemkv that can't see them. My computer sees them as blank discs. And yeah, I put in infinity war, then cars 3. Cars 3 was seen just fine. Put infinity wars back in, nothing. Even did a windows update check to see if something needed updated, rebooted my system, checked the system logs and msinfo for errors. Nothing is showing up that I can see.

Long shot but try cleaning the discs with a solution of 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Obviously the Infinity Wars is new, but you would be surprised at what is on a disc even though it is fresh out of the packaging. Are both of the discs brand new or just Infinity Wars? If they are both new and they have been cleaned, you could have bad discs.

Maleficent is not new, I'll clean the infinity war and give it a try and see. That's the more important one right now.

Alcohol worked on infinity war. I'll try maleficent when that's done. That's the first time I've run into this. Thank you!
