Some DVD Rips plaing in a small box

Anyone any ideas why some of my DVD Rips are playing in a box, black bars top and bottom and left and right

Without knowing what you're playing the file with, no, do not have any wild guesses yet.

I'm using plex on my TV and the built in movie player on windows 10

Are you having them zoom the video, or show it "full size"? Normally TVs will zoom the video to "fill" the screen.

You mention "some" DVD rips; are some playing zoomed to fill the screen?

Also, the Win10 movie player normally shows video at 100% zoom, rather than "fill" zoom, unless you tell it to maximize the window. On a 4K screen, that makes DVD video VERY small.

I have been ripping my DVDs and the majority are fine - I haven't adjusted any players defaults
