How in the holy hell is it possibly for two discs to fail backup at the same exact read point in the same file at almost the same offset with the same amount of read errors?

Drive is solid, backs up other discs.

Lack of information hampers wild-assed guessing, but, have you tried reverting to version 1.12.2 ?

Feel free to kill this one. Had never seen a failure at the exact same location on the two different physical copies of the same title.
