Will Pioneer BDR-XD07J-UHD work on mac?

Post by jalexander » Wed Jul 11, 2018 7:47 am

Does anyone know if this drive will work on my 2016 macbook pro (2.7ghz core i7, 16gb ram).

People in reviews tend to say it works on mac, but the official pioneer site only talks about Windows.

Thanks in advance.

There’s a possibility the Pioneer BDR-XD07J-UHD will work in a Mac OSX for playing/ripping standard 1080p blu-rays. But for ripping UHD 4K movies, might not work. Normally official UHD drives don’t work in ripping UHD discs. Maybe check with the seller if they accept returns.

Another good option, just get an Asus BW-16D1HT or LG WH16NS40 as some members here are offering these drives for sale. The Asus and LG drives will be cheaper and they’re bigger drives, they are more robust and durable to handle the heavy task of ripping those large UHD files.

Mac/PC don't matter, it's the Official or Friendly UHD Drive that matters
