Overboard

Post by SickPup404 »

(FYI - I ended up posting this in the BR forum as well since Google usually brings that post up first.)

Tested Overboard on two separate DVDs:
- There are six "copies" of the movie on the DVD.
- Titles 9 & 10 both fail to rip (with errors).
- Title 11 (1:52:18 running time) rips & plays without errors.
- Titles 12-14 all rip without errors, but all have audio sync issues throughout the movie.

Like I said, this was the same results on two versions of the DVD (from separate boxes). I think the rip errors and audio playback errors are all induced as protection.

is the correct title. Runtime matches IMDB details (& my copy, & the BD thread).

This is a Lionsgate release, notorious for multiple, incorrect titles (playlist obfuscation).

Newbie here.

Using MakeMKV v1.12.3 32bit, I cannot ever see Track 11 when I ask the program to analyze the "Overboard" (2018) DVD. MakeMKV therefore defaults to a track that is only 2 minutes (100.6MB) long. What am I doing wrong?

Here's my log output:

Code: Select all

You can try opening the disc in 'manual mode' and see whether any of the listed titles report the correct runtime.

Thanks for the guidance d00zah!

That suggestion helped me to move forward. Please see my next question below...

NOTE: For anyone else that is new to MakeMKV (like me), you must first enable "Expert Mode" before the "Open DVD file manually" option will appear in the File menu of the UI. (It took me a few minutes to poke around and figure that out). View >> Preferences >> General >> Check mark "Expert mode" >> Apply >> Ok

After enabling that mode, I browsed the disc and opened the IFO under the VideoTS directory. I have pasted the output below. Although I read through and I am attempting to follow the syntax shown on the instructions page ( http://makemkv.com/manualdvd/ ), I am not able to get Track 11 or any track to admit to having a legitimate title. (I am simply entering the title number such as 11, 26, or 27 (no punctuation) and it gives me an error such as:

Code: Select all

Open DVD manually : "11"
CellWalk algorithm failed (structure protection is too tough?), trying CellTrim algorithm
Fake cells occupy 100% of the title - assuming fake title
Failed to open disc

Any further guidance would be appreciated...

Here's the title list according to "Open DVD file manually" mode:

Sorry 'bout that. It' been so long since I enabled EM, I forgot what things looked like without it.

Depending on the disc (rental vs retail, region, etc.), things like the correct track can vary. This one is not the same disc.

That said, I've never seen a disc like this. Where did it come from? Have you tried a replacement?

Any thoughts, @Woodstock?
