d00zah,
Followed your instructions and it converted to readable text. Played updated .srt in LG player with no success. Hmmm

Followed your instructions and converted file to readable text. Played in the LG player with no success. The SUB button remained grayed out. Hmmm

All I have left to offer would be to search the LG support site for a manual for the EXACT player model & see if yours has some 'special' requirements.

BTW, are you playing those files locally? IIRC some TVs don't show external SRT subs when they are played back from a NAS via DLNA.

d00zah,
Great news-I happened to look at a YouTube video about merging files with MKV toolnix. I figured I’d try just to see and voila....it worked. SUB button was active and what a beautiful site. BTW, thank you for your help and giving this newbie some knowledge.

Chetwood,
I’m playing the files on my LG projector from external HD.

Missed it by THAT much! Something I do regularly, but didn't mention, as it didn't SEEM necessary. It all depends on the player. Glad you got it sorted.
