CANNOT FIND FILES OR FOLDER! NEED HELP ASAP!
I NEED TO FIND THE FOLDER CONTAINING THE RIPPED FILES. I ONLY DID ONE DISC BUT IT TOOK UP WAY TOO MUCH SPACE AND I NEED TO DELETE THEM BUT NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE FOLDER AND THE FILES FIRST! PLEASE HELP ASAP! THANK YOU!
Re: CANNOT FIND FILES OR FOLDER! NEED HELP ASAP!
Well, were did you tell MakeMKV to store the files?
If you didn't bother configuring that, you can usually find them by clicking on the tool icon, and looking at the "Default destination" in the Video tab. If there is no path shown, click on the Folder icon to the right of the box under "Custom". Where you start is probably where MakeMKV is storing the files from a rip.

Did you turn on debugging, by chance? See this FAQ if you don't know what it is or how to do it.
The log will show "Saving 6 titles into directory ...." with the directory path shown.
If it isn't configured, on Windows, you're PROBABLY going to find it in your personal directory, which will be on C:\USERS\[your_user_name_here]\ , which will be where the log file is saved.

Re: CANNOT FIND FILES OR FOLDER! NEED HELP ASAP!
Well, I just fired up MakeMKV, and configured it to "auto" for the path. Loaded a DVD. Told it to open it.
I realize it is hard to find, but.... hidden on the display (it's towards the top, under the menu bar) is a box marked "Output folder". Hidden in that box is a path.... If you look REALLY CLOSE, it may give you a hint at where the files are...
Of course, there is the lazy way to find it - Open Windows Explorer, click on "My Computer", and hit the F3 key. Search for *.mkv. Let cook for a few minutes. See where it found files. They are NOT hidden.

If you need the space, then yes, delete them.

Re: CANNOT FIND FILES OR FOLDER! NEED HELP ASAP!
Sorry for getting in on this ancient post, but I did everything listed here and still can't find my ripped DVD. My hard drive shows a good deal less space now, so I know that the DVD was ripped.
I don't know what else to do now to find my files.
Is there any other possible help?

If your Opened the disk and ripped to MKV files, the fastest way if you have already gone through looking at the above is to ask your operating system to search for all files named "*.mkv".
In Windows Explorer, open "Computer" (this is the top level of your system), find the search box at the upper right of the window, and type *.mkv in it.
It will take a while, but all MKV files on your system will be found.
If you used the Backup method on a Bluray, you can search for "BDMV", which will find the backup folder and video files.
And, next time, make note of where you set the destination before you start the rip.

Thank you. The files have been found. The default location in Make MKV said D drive, but the files are on the C drive. Odd?

In Preferences->Video, what are your settings?

Re: CANNOT FIND FILES OR FOLDER! NEED HELP ASAP!
I did one DVD at that setting you asked was AUTO.
When I had started up Make MKV again, I clicked on the DVD icon to analyze the disc again.
It then said that the output folder was D:video-filename
When I did the windows search as you instructed, the files were actually in C:video-filename.
I understand my mistakes now and it should be fine going forward.
I will make my own folder or default it to that D drive folder.

Re: CANNOT FIND FILES OR FOLDER! NEED HELP ASAP!
I've not had the best of luck with "Auto"... I use Semiauto, and have just "Z:" as my destination. That gives me a path of "Z:\" followed by the name of the disk. I can modify that if the name basically sucks, but it will always start out on my network share that ripped files are supposed to go to.

Re: CANNOT FIND FILES OR FOLDER! NEED HELP ASAP!
As far as I untderstand the "Auto" option, it selectes the drive with the most available space. So it's better to specify a fixed output destination and/or use the "Semi-Auto" option to specify the drive and root folder and MakeMKV stores the files in an disc specific named sub folder.
Good Luck
