attempting to rescue a scratched blu ray

#1 Post by crackers8199 » Thu Mar 08, 2018 9:13 am

makemkv can read the disc enough to decrypt it, but when trying to rip it the rip fails...so does dd. i got an ISO (after 9 hours) from ddrescue, but makemkv cannot decrypt the iso...how can i use the decryption key from the actual disc to decrypt the iso? i've been trying to use the FAQ, but have gotten nowhere. i can't figure out where i'm supposed to get the key from, nor where i'm supposed to put it (i don't see any such key files in the data directory)...

I have two blu-Ray disks that I can't use with MakeMKV. I have tried what was mentioned. Both will copy to the Hard Drive via file copy. And I use the method described by trying to backup the Blu-Ray disk without copy protection to get the discatt.dat file.

The files process fine and end up displaying the contents. As I only care about the actual Movie, I am trying to just lift that for my PLEX player.

I can select the discatt.dat file and it shows all the contents of the Blu-Ray I copied to the HD, but when I tell it to start to decrypt to grab just the movie file for my personal archive, it gets part way through validating the .m2ts files. And then it spits out DEBUG CODE Errors. There are no scratches on the disks, my Blu-Ray players (all of them) try to play, and part way through the Movies, corruption starts to show up. But again, no physical damage to disks. And all the files copy fine to my HD.

Is there any way to recover a Blu-Ray disk, with no physical damage, that reads fine? The disks are the Disney Frozen and Disney Cars 3. I was hoping to be able to play the Blu-Ray versions instead of just the poorer quality included DVD's.

This was may last ditch effort to get a good Blu-Ray version to play.

When it is first analyzing the files before I get the menu, it says "Title #00950.m2ts has length of 19 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped". But the event logs clearly state it is having issues reading that .m2ts file when trying to rip the movie.

So, is it skipped or not?

And it keeps on scrolling in the log window:
DEBUG: Code 100 at wz7oQ0FT$kUdK(c42RCM:29397403
...
DEBUG: Code 1531 at wz7oQ0FT$kUdK(c42RCM:29397403

Till I cancel it and then it says:

Error 'Internal error - Operation was cancelled (112)' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00950.m2ts' at offset '92160
DEBUG: Code 0 at n6_l4"9@ad(W>C?k_j*r:121263176

Failed to save title 4 to file C:/Diskimg/MKV/Cars_3_t04.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed

So it keeps on doing that first series till I tell it to stop the procedure.

It then spits out the rest.

It says it didn't skip 00921.m2ts, like it did for 00950.m2ts

So is MakeMKV not being able to handle something, or are the structures in the actual files, miss burned on the origional Blu-Ray disk so that MakeMKV can't read it?

Any suggestions?
