register

#1 Post by anatak » Tue May 15, 2018 11:44 pm

Hello,
sorry if this is a (probably) stupid question but how can I register MKV ?
I downloaded the linux version and am very happy with it and would like to continue using it.
When I start MakeMKV it asks to download a new version or to register.

best regards

I had the same question, but I just now realized that in the MakeMKV program itself, there's an option to Purchase and Register in the Help file menu dropdown. The Purchase one takes you to http://www.makemkv.com/buy/. I'm not sure why they don't have a link anywhere on their website to the purchase page. If they do, I haven't been able to find it.

You're not the only one that doesn't know why... :)

except that I can't access the help menu anymore since I keep getting the pop up to say it is too old.
hahaha talk about weird user interface design.
It's almost as the people who code this don't want to get paid.

Direct link was in SDFprowler's message.

What version are you running that is saying "too old"? The current beta key is good until the end of this month. To be getting "too old", it's got to be something older than 1.12.0.

You can start MakeMKV by setting your computer date back to before the beta key you're using expired. Once it is running, you can reset the system date.

Finding out how far back you have to set the date, you can find your version in the list of versions shown on /download/ . Keys generally expire at the end of the SECOND month after a version is released. Example: 1.10.9 was released January 8, 2018, so its key expired at the end of March.

Also, if you install 1.12.2 (the current version), it will update the key to work until the end of this month.

unfortunately, THAT is a restriction imposed by PayPal - they consider things like MakeMKV to be piracy tools.
