Anyone have issues reading Westworld 4K episodes 5 & 7...

Post by Chuck_IV » Thu Apr 26, 2018 2:48 am

I don't know whether it's just a bad disk or if it's something else(I read all 3 episodes off the first disk just fine and 2 of the 4 off this disk), but when reading episode 5 I always get the following at the same spot(2632gb into the read)...

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00039.m2ts' at offset '3295997952'
Error 'OS error - STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR' occurred while reading '\Device\CdRom0' at offset '3295997952'

I'm not sure if I got a bum disk or not. The disk is spotless with no visible scratches at all(looks pristine), however, I even just tried coping the 00039.mts file and it hung on the copy too so I suspect a bad disk. I am using a US version purchased form Amazon. I am going to exchange it, but I figured I'd check before doing an exchange(since Amazon is backordered).

If the offset is the same between multiple reads, it is likely that is where a defect in the disk (could just be a fingerprint) exists.

Yea, same spot every time. Guess I'll just send them back and wait on the replacements from Amazon(still on backorder).

Did anyone successfully rip "Westworld" UHD discs? I'm not sure which file should be ripped since there are twice as many files (>20GB) on discs as episodes? Maybe one is HDR10 and the other DV? Also, Infuse is choosing the old Westworld show when getting images and not the new one from 2016.

After getting a replacement copy from Amazon, I've been able to rip them just fine now. The first copy I got had bad disks two and three. The second copy seems to be good though.

Lujan. On my USA copy from Amazon, while I do see two version of each episode, only one of them shows as having chapters, so those are the ones I ripped. They trigger HDR on my Samsung KS8000.

Maybe I'll rip one of the other ones to see what I end up with.
