UHD - Thor: Ragnarok - Correct Playlist

Post by jayper »

Thor: Ragnarok
4K UHD Disc

Decrypts properly, but I am seeing two playlists of equal length, same language/sub tracks but different segment maps. Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

Not sure about your region/version, however, I have the Australian version and there are 3 playlists for 02:10:31. These are:

00004.mpls
00800.mpls
00801.mpls

I've found that 2 of the playlists (00004 & 00800) play the same files/order so either one of these is correct.
Cheers :D

00800.mpls should be the correct playlist. If you look at the playlist in MediaInfo, it should show the video files in the following playback order:

00800.m2ts
00801.m2ts
00802.m2ts
00803.m2ts
00804.m2ts
Cheers :D

For Disney titles, 800 is always the correct one for English.

How do you confirm the correct playlist? I mean before ripping?

If it is released by Disney and you want English, check out the "800" play list first.

If it's released by Lionsgate or a related studio, make sure you have Java installed and hope MakeMKV can find it, otherwise do a forum search for the title of the movie to see if someone else found it.

You need to have MediaInfo installed on your PC. If you have the K-Lite codec pack installed you should have MediaInfo. Otherwise, you can download a MediaInfo installer. I just google'd MediaInfo and it was the first link.

Once you have it installed, just right click on a playlist or video file and select MediaInfo from the menu.

what happens if you select the wrong playlist? I've always just picked a random one!

The movie can skip around to different scenes or the words can be in a different language. stuff like that.

It could also blow up your computer. :D

What do you guys do for audio for this? Suppose I want just the atmos track since I copy the mkv files to a usb stick and play them through my x800 player or st5000 sound bar (both Sony products). I've not yet learned how to name the audio tracks, not sure if it can be done just using the mkv file as playback, but want to verify i've got the atmos ripped.
Any suggestions?

Thank you!
