Hi All,
I work at a screening room, and we are still frequently given Blurays and DVDs to show on the big screen. Since optical media is not a professional format, and the chances of having a failed and glitchy screening are very high, we rip to MKV then convert to Digital Cinema Package.
Converting to DCP is taking forever, and it's finally starting to wear me down with all the short film festivals that show up.
Does anyone know of a piece of hardware ( other than a desktop computer ) that will play these files back, has SDI Outputs, AES Outputs, etc etc.
Ideally, I'd like to see a box like the Video Devices PIX 250/270 gain MKV playback capabilities, but so far, my requests have fallen on deaf ears.
Professional ways of playing back MKV Files
Re: Professional ways of playing back MKV Files
Something that MAY work - a number of devices I've owned claimed no support for MKV files, but they would play them back if you claimed they were AVI files. Just changing the file extension got me past the "I can't do that" front end.
Beyond that tidbit, I can't help.
