Atomic Blonde - no key ?

Post by thelangs » Wed Feb 21, 2018 11:41 pm

I tried to rip the disk Atomic Blonde. I get the following error.

makeMKV v1.12.0 win(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\tlang/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v61_Atomic_Blonde_4761.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

Is there a key for this disk ?

Thanks

This movie sucked but HDR looked good. Still have not scanned with mkv yet. The way things are going it's going to take me 2 months to encode the 4k rips to 1080p HDR. For me it's all about HDR.

Still hoping for a Dolby Vision solution. Is the problem with MKV or Dolby?

The MKV spec, as I understand it, does not allow for the Dolby Vision data. It's stored in a separate video title and I guess "overlayed" as you're playing the main title. Again, limited understand here of how it works, but, I think what I just said is accurate. I've read that MKV is not able to handle the Dolby Vision data.

But why not hold on to that extra detail in the 4K? HDR is good, but I prefer the combination of the higher resolution and the improved colors.
