While trying to rip a Blu Ray using Makemkv my hard drive becomes inaccessible. The drive
starts making a wierd sound and I have to reboot everything. Even then the hard drive isn’t always
back to normal. Does anyone else have this issue? It has never happened to me before until this year. 2018...I don’t know if something has changed in the new year or what.
I really appreciate any help.
External Hard drive inaccessible
Re: External Hard drive inaccessible
I use Windows and always rip the MKV file to an external hard drive. There has never been a drive problem with any version of MakeMKV. Have you tried a different external drive, USB cable and USB port?
Re: External Hard drive inaccessible
How is the external drive powered? Is your optical drive also a USB device?
I ask because a LOT of USB devices like to use as much USB power as is available, and sometimes the USB ports do not have enough power to support multiple devices pulling a lot of power. This is especially true if they're plugged into un-powered hubs.

Re: External Hard drive inaccessible
My external hard drive has its own power cord not connected to the computer.
I was just wondering if anyone had issues lately with ripping certain discs.
Thanks for the replies
