Backup of region-locked Blu-ray

Hello - long time user of the indispensable MakeMKV, just joined the board & happy to be here

Please may I ask a question?

I just purchased a Region A-locked Blu-ray boxset (I'm from Region B land). I can play it okay but if I create a backup with MakeMKV and burn it to a BD, will it be Region Free? I'd like to have a set of the discs I can play in any player.

MakeMKV does not care about regions. Your player software might, if you're playing from a backup, but that is a player limitation.

When you rip to MKV files, the "region lock" often appears as a video file that says, "You can't play this video in your region", but you don't have to play that file.
