Not creating short cut when I have it checked to do so

Hey all,
This is the first time I am using this. I have had to reinstall in several different times to use it because after I say to make a short cut on the desk top there isn't an icon for it. Does anyone know why?

Windows? If you provided an administrator password in order to install, the shortcut was created on the administrator's desktop.
