Re: Adding Keys?
yea i did read that, but it's not very clear.Woodstock wrote:There's a FAQ on this, that Mike just updated... http://makemkv.com/faq/item/12/category/8
what must the file be called? what extension must it have?
Re: Adding Keys?
The FAQ says "download the latest keydb_bd file, and unpack it in the directory", so I would guess the file name is already decided by the source.
I have not needed to do this, so it's outside my knowledge base.

Re: Adding Keys?
When I click the link, it says the FAQ is from March 2010? I am also confused on what extension and name to call the file with the keys.

Re: Adding Keys?
Yes, it's the FAQ from 2010, which Mike edited recently to include this line:
That tells you where, but the file name... The linked thread on doom9 includes this:First, you need to look up or set "MakeMKV data directory" in preferences;
So, I would say that MakeMKV probably expects the name to be KEYDB.cfgHere it is formatted for KEYDB.cfg.Code: Select all

Re: Adding Keys?
Ok, So what I did was just download the "KEYDB.cfg" linked in this post on doom9: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p ... ost1823531
Open the cfg file with notepad and then copy/pasted all the keys listed in this post on doom9: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p ... ost1826296
Save the file in the MakeMKV data directory (which appears to be under "C:/users/username/.MakeMKV" by default).
I just loaded in the UHD of Deadpool and it opened it just like any other disc and I'm currently ripping it as normal. Estimating about 30 minutes total. I'll update on my success!

Re: Adding Keys?
Happy to report that the rip went perfect! Most movies are averaging anywhere from 40 -60 minutes to rip, which is right inline with any blurays I've ever done (seeing as they are only half the file size, typically). I've managed to rip Expendables 3, Deepwater Horizon, and both Ghostbusters. The Revenant and Billy Lynn wouldn't open. They must not be the right Keys for the US releases.AlexR688 wrote:Any update on your progress?Metallikahn wrote:Ok, So what I did was just download the "KEYDB.cfg" linked in this post on doom9: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p ... ost1823531

After ripping I've been able to successfully play the mkv's over my network on an Oppo udp-203 player! They direct play with Full lossless tracks, working subtitles, and it triggers the HDR flag on my LG 65B7A OLED TV. I can't verify ATMOS since I don't have an ATMOS receiver, but if it is bitstreaming the TrueHD track (and since Atmos is just metadata apended to said track) I'm just going to assume that is working perfect as well. Very Exciting! Can't wait for the Keylist to continue to grow!
Re: Adding Keys?
I tried that too a few days back. It doesn't decrypt the main playlist. DeUHD downloads and caches over 230MB+ for each disc, so there is obviously a lot more to this then just a few keys.
I agree though, it can open the disc with this method, but that is as far as I got. I'm using an older PC with the new LG 4k UHD internal drive from Fry's. I'm not sure if this is part of my issue (no Intel SGX support), but I'm not wasting anymore time on this until some of you post screen shots of your success and what specific hardware you are using.

Re: Adding Keys?
I did the same as Metallikahn, and can also report that it works great.
I've ripped The Hunger Games box, insurgent,Alegiant,Oblivion,Passenges,The Reveant (European release indeed), and some other discs and they all play fine on an AppleTv 4k from my nas using Infuse 5.
I used makemkv and the 'Backup Discc' option, and then move the m2ts file to my nas. Largest at the moment is The Hunger Games Catching Fire at 76G.
