MakeMKV hangs converting M2TS

When converting some bluray M2TS files to MKV stored on hard drive using the index of movie bdmv file, MakeMKV carries out the conversion then infinitely hangs at the end of the process with the elapsed counter counting away?

I have experienced this with all versions of MakeMKV on about 50% of my bluray content stored on hard drive.

After closing MakeMKV, makemkvcon is still churning away in Windows task manager consuming 50% CPU power and has to be manually ended from within task manager.

The converted file is of the expected size but unplayable.

No problem when converting the same film from Bluray disc though!

Sounds like a bad rip.
Try using MakeMKV's "Backup" function to re-rip your original BluRay disc(s) to your hard drive...

Thanks for the reply but these aren't bad rips they play fine in their bluray M2TS format! MakeMKV has problems converting some bluray rips from hard drive to MKV.

Like i said there's no problem ripping from the disc.

1) Does the same thing happen whether you select "movie.bdmv" or "index.bdmv"?

2) Have you "cleaned up" your hard drive, to make sure you have no bad or failing sectors?

3) As we all know, ANYTHING is possible when it comes to the behavior of computers. So, despite your confidence, it would take very little effort on your part to re-rip one of your original BluRay discs to your hard drive and see if the new rip presents the same problem as you've described.

Have you tired the new version 1.5.3 ?

The converted file is of the expected size but unplayable.

This is due to the MKV file not being finished, you "might" be able to salvage it by reopening it in mkvmerge

Well, it sounds like M2TS file is corrupted at the very end. Please submit a log file per instructions at http://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/8 for further analysis.

Mike, this is the debug from my latest attempt which I left running for nearly 2 hours. The problem occurs using both movie & index bdmv files & is still apparent using 1.5.3. I have yet to find a failed attempt that hasn't worked using EAC3to then MKVmerge instead, so the M2TS files surely can't be corrupted?

After doing some further testing it appears that this problem's is linked to DTS HD M2TS files only, TRUE HD files convert fine from hard drive.

what happens if you process the "bad" M2TS but unselect all DTS-HD tracks?

Successfully converted file with normal DTS only!

Looks like it's DTS HD causing the problem!

I have the same problem Mike, successfully converted file with normal DTS or AC3 only!
If I convert with DTS HD or DD HD select after 98-98 % processing lag doesn't finish.
FYI I try so many times and with different BD Movies and I use ver 1.5.6 beta.
