Unable to use "backup" option

I am unable to use the "backup" menu item -- it is always greyed out. What is needed for this to work?

(DVD's, not blue-rays).

It's only available for Blue-Rays.

I'm sure I was able to use the Backup functionality (on a BD disc) in a previous beta but it is not available now. Has it been removed for non-payers or something?

If your "thirty day trial" has expired for BD features, you would need to put the current beta key in again to re-activate it.

Or, buy a permanent key, of course.
