Ponyo - Fatal Error, program closes at end of making MKV

I'm getting a fatal error message box pop up right at the very end of saving the MKV. Clicking Ok on it closes the whole program.

I was able to use MakeMKV to make a backup of the disc to my hard drive. Trying to export the MKV fails in exactly the same way from the disc or from the backup.

I've looked at the sticky and tried what it suggested, except for the different copy or drive part. As I only have one of each.

Looking at the log, this is what it says leading up to the failure:

I'm not an expert with MakeMKV, but are its debug assert messages usually just a mess like that?

I have successfully used MakeMKV on other discs, so the drive and computer should be working fine. Any suggestions on what to try to get around this would be very appreciated. Thanks.

If the backup completed, but creating an MKV failed, it may be an issue with how the disk is authored. Send a message to support@makemkv.com to alert Mike to this topic. It is likely he will be asking you for more information.

As an update, I did email the support email about this.

I used the free trial of Pavtube ByteCopy, and was able to export an MKV using the same disc and drive. So, it seems likely it is something specific to MakeMKV that was causing the failure.

I'm having this exact same issue with my copy of Ponyo BD. The main movie title nearly completes before the error pops up and MakeMKV closes. The title is saved but is unplayable. I thought maybe I had a bad disk so I returned it and got a new one, but I'm experiencing the same issue with the new disk. Any suggestions?

When I had a similar issue, Mike needed a lot more information than I can tell you about here, and having two people to supply it will probably be best. Start with the email to support@makemkv.com and Mike will take it from there.

Don't expect it to be instantly fixed - it took two months for him to fix my issue, and it came down to something weird in how the disk was authored.

When I did my Ponyo BD with MakeMKV, I had no issues with making a MKV. I am on Windows 10 laptop. I am not sure what version of Makemkv I was using at the time.
