Not able to open some new movies

#1 Post by p-richard » Sun Jan 22, 2017 2:37 am

I've been getting this same error on several movies now but haven't been able to find any posts on the subject. I now have 4 movies saved to my hard drive and get the same message when I try Make MKV from the file.

MakeMKV v1.10.1 win(x64-release) started
The new version 1.10.4 is available for download at /download/
Opening files on harddrive at H:/DVD/backup/Deepwater Horizon
This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting /a/?7Ozs7Ow8fGStfj...
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

Has there been discussion on this?

Could you please list the movie titles and whether rented, retail, or.... ?

Maybe try version1.01.4? I had no problem with Deepwater Horizon other than identifying the correct track.

Cheers

You're using an old version of MakeMKV, and it encountered a version of AACS that it isn't equipped to handle. Assuming that version is 62 or less, then 1.10.4 will take care of it... but if it is 63 or higher, you should have clicked on the link provided to send the information to Mike to report it.

Try updating first; if you still have an issue, in your MKV data directory, there will be a TGZ file that starts with "MKB_v", and has the AACS version and title that was involved. Like this: MKB_v62_E&L_of_Grisaia_BD2.tgz

Email that file to svq@makemkv.com for analysis.

That's all it took. Updated MakeMKV and it works just fine. I'll be more mindful to update more often. Thanks again.
