titles out of order?

Post by snaykebyte »

Evening all, first post here. I have a question about something I hope is not isolated to me. Hardware is as follows: Nvidia Shield 16gb, and Seagate 5tb external running PMS on Shield. I have used MakeMKV and Handbrake to rip and encode about 1000 DVDs and Blu Rays. On very few of them, The Hunger Games Catching Fire for example, the content after I load it onto the external and update the libraries is out of order. What I mean is when playing the movie through Plex, a couple scenes in the movie are out of order. I've tried the ripping process severl times with the same results at the same places in the movie. The Blu Ray plays fine BTW. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?? Thanks for any help in advance..............-Curtis

Search for "lionsgate" here, and you know why - they create dozens (on DVD) or hundreds (on BD) of false titles, constructed out of the data on the disk, with the scenes out of order, and you have to figure out which one is real. It varies with when and where you bought the disk.

No, there are methods to find the correct title, and MakeMKV tries to do it, if you have Java installed on your computer. But it isn't always right.

The usual way things happen is that someone posts messages asking "what's the right play list for [fill in title here]?" and others with the resources to determine the correct play list post their findings, listing where they bought the disk, because it IS a factor in this.

I bought one Lionsgate title - Ender's Game - and just refuse to go though that hassle again. I won't allow Java to run on my systems, so I have no ideal how well the MakeMKV attempts would work. And, hanging out here, I get a heads-up on movies to ignore. That includes all of the "hunger games" series, "divergent" and its sequels, and dozens of others.

It is kind of pointless what they're doing - it makes it inconvenient for the people that willingly give them money, and it costs pirates about 15-20 extra minutes of their time to work around it. I don't think it has cut into the torrent market, either - once one copy is "correct", it's game over.
