index.bdmv or movieindex

Post by deaerator »

I thought makemkv can recognize a ripped blu ray disc.
Under the current version I cannot get this to recognize a ripped disc.

Ripped in what way? To an ISO? To a decrypted file structure? Opening an ISO file, or opening the directory?

Since I do not use this feature often, I had to create a backup of a disk I processed yesterday.

After doing the backup, I clicked on "Open", then "Open files", and navigated to the folder that was created by the backup. Next to the "File name" box, there is a pull-down for file types to display; I clicked on that, and selected "Blu-ray files (index.bdmv ....)". Nothing found there. Went into the BDMV directory, found index.bdmv, clicked on it, and selected Open.

MakeMKV then did the same read that it did when I opened the real disk 10 hours ago, and showed me all the video.

So, I would say that this feature DOES work in 1.10.2, at least on Windows.

Is this a paid for feature.

I have 2 installations of this program, the first one is on a windows 7 machine and the other is a docker on my unraid machine and they respond the same way.
Nothing happens.

If you're in the 30 day trial period for BD features, it should work. You can try re-entering the beta key to reset the 30-day counter, but you would normally get a message about it being limited, whether you're in or out of the 30-day trial.

Do you have debug logging turned on? Are ANY error messages displayed?

I have debug logging enabled and attached to this post.

Again nothing happens when I try to add the files.

I've also successfully made .mkv's from BD folder structures on a Windows PC. Could your file be corrupt or missing an internal folder or file?

The feature does work, just verified again, following exactly what Woodstock posted earlier:

1. Open MakeMKV.
2. Go to "File" then drop down to "Open files".
3. Navigate to where the BMDV folder is located and open.
4. You will find two files, "index.bdmv" and "MovieObject.bdmv". Select one of these, doesn't matter which.
5. MakeMKV will open the file exactly as it does with a disc and you will go through the exact same steps as with a disc to convert content to an .mkv file.

Unfortunately, I was hoping to post photos but the #?@&! "sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached" message popped up and no photos could be loaded.

If this is not working for you and you've followed the above steps, then I believe the file you have is corrupt or it is missing a subfolder or file.

You may want to test on a fresh "backup" using MakeMKV to back up to a folder structure or, if you have AnyDVD, decrypt and create backup with AnyDVD or a backup tool like TSMuxerGUI. Either way, this should work.
