Why doesn't MakeMKV provide checksums?

www.makemkv.com doesn't offer https, and that worries me when downloading software. Providing checksums for the installer would let me be absolutely sure I'm getting the original file.

Considering the fact that this is the originating site, isn't it just a bit silly to be worried about it? What are the odds that someone has gotten to the file and replaced it? Kind of small, I'd say.

The concern is valid in these days when DNS can be hijacked... But, if someone can redirect the download, can't they also provide a matching checksum for it?

you can provide signatures that can be verified against previously verified pgp/gpg keys.
