Can MakeMKV read different region Blu-Rays?

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't find anything, maybe I'm blind!

I live in the UK, and would like to import some Blu-Rays from the USA, will MakeMKV be able to read them on my UK blu-ray drive? From what I understand, its no longer done in the firmware of the drive but in the software, so hopefully MakeMKV will rip these?

Region coding on Bluray is not the same as for DVD. MakeMKV seems to handle either one well, as I've processed UK BDs on my US machine, as well as DVDs from Germany and Japan.

If anything, the BD version seems to be brain dead compared to DVD - if your player has the "wrong region", the main feature is replaced with a file that says "This disk is for region X, go away". When I rip a BD from the UK, I get the main feature ripped just fine, plus all the little "region warning" videos.
