Rambo 1, 2, 3 No Go

I tried to Rip two different copies of Rambo: First Blood in two different drives in two different computers on newest version of MakeMKV, no dice.

I gave up, moved onto Rambo II and III.

The type of errors you are getting point to a problem with the drives.

If it were one disk in both drives, I'd say it was the disk; If it were all disks in one drive, I'd say it was that drive. But 4 different disks in two different drives, same type of errors, is highly unusual.

I would think that the common problem present in the scenario of so many different DVD's (4) and Drives (3) in different PCs (2) is that the software is the issue.

Software is the controlled variable.

Yes, the software is common in the scenarios, but the other common element is that the hardware (drive) is telling the operating system that it can't read the disk.

MakeMKV is reporting this error, not generating it. When the drive can read the disk but the results are not what MakeMKV expected to see, you'll see "debug code XXXX" in the message, rather than a SCSI or Posix (Linux's and Apple's version of the SCSI report) error.

That's why this seems so strange.

In the case of Rambo 3, the offset to the uncorrectable error changes, which means that the drive WAS able to read some sectors after multiple tries. Which again points to a problem with the disk itself.

You're welcome to try downgrading to an earlier version of MakeMKV if you think that's the problem: /download/old/

But the error messages do not support that hypothesis.
