Josie and the Pussycats Disc one doesn't detect all or merge

Post by thesnappysneezer »

The disc plays just fine in a dvd player, all 8 episodes play but when trying to rip it only 5 titles shown, the first title is the length of four episodes and the next four titles are the size of normal episodes. It skips a bunch of titles it says are too short. At first I thought the first title was a shortened listing of all the episodes as one title but now I think it may be the first four episodes as one title and the rest are titles individually. How can I extract the chapters as individual titles? I see a similar thread with a link to manual but nothing at that link seems to say how to use manual. Could someone please explain it simply like you are telling it to a grade school student. Also, a request for the future, the ability to extract chapters individually as titles simply from the main menu. .

I figured out how to get in manual mode. Looking at the source information as compared to what shows in the program The title one which appeared to be about an hour and a half is nearly 3 hours and the program ignored titles 11-13 which are full episodes and title 14 also appears to be a full episode but in the regular listing it says it is broken titleset was skipped. Here is a screenshot of what I see. Image

Darn, despite what I thought was doing it right, it still only managed to open four of the titles.

Trying it again with breaking up the big file chapters into one title apiece by typing:

1:1 1:2 1:3 1:4 1:5 1:6 1:7 1:8

This successfully got me 6 titles instead of 4 but I am still down two. I am going to copy these and see what I get and then copy the rest.

As a note, I am sort of dyslexic and the instructions do appear a bit jumble to me but I generally have been able to blast my way through such confusion but a further suggestion would be a change to those instructions by breaking up that paragraph a bit. Something like how I put a blank line above and below the example of the numbers I entered in.

Phooey! The two extra at the end failed to copy but the first four did. I will try and copy the other four titles that weren't part of the lump but I believe those are the same four I got. I wonder why this is.

I am glad I was able to finally understand how to split the chapters into titles. This will come in handy on some sets like Ranma 1/2 where all episodes are in one big lump. Now to figure how to combine titles if needed and I wonder if this can help me with the mess that is the 90s American Gothic tv series dvds. For some reason those come out with the chapters all jumbled or the beginning missing.

Well to no avail, I am giving up for now. I tried to lay it in VLC and it wouldn't play the last part. I put it back in my dvd player and dang it took a minute to load the dvd. I just watched it all over the last week or two. I skipped to the last episode and start fast forwarding and toward the end it got skippy. It wasn't like this a while back. The does not appear to scratched or anything. Just curious. Can ripping a disc cause it damage? I don't think it would. shoot though this had a problem before ripping. This is a primary reason I want to back these up so as to avoid the discs dying on me. This is going to bug me. I may have to rebuy the thing.

While I can't offer suggestions on settings to get those last files, make sure you send the information asked for in the FAQ in my signature to Mike, at support@makemkv.com .

Just an update if Anyone cares to take note. I decided to reorder the Josie dvd but now I am wondering if that new one will work, it was cheap enough. The reason I am wondering is the third season of Scooby-Doo Where Are You! is acting the exact same way as the Josie one with the exact same number of missing titles on the end which makes me think it might be how they made these discs which I believe were made t about the same time so maybe they are uniquely spoofing MAkeMKVs ability to work around these issues. I can not seem to get to the files even through opening the disc manually. I did check some of the files through vlc and one of the missing one plays fine.

Woodstock I will do as you say shortly
