MakeMKV - My AnyDVD Replacement

Here is what I want to do:

1) Use MakeMKV to convert my Blu-Ray Media to MKV's.
2) When I want to create a duplicate Blu-Ray from an MKV, I need to determine the best method to perform this task.

If the file is less than 25GB, I will not need to use BD-Rebuilder, if larger I can use to reduce the file size to a BD25 structure.

I just tried this process, of taking a 31GB MKV file, using BD-Rebuilder to reduce and then process with IMGBurner.
- The bad news, I am doing something wrong and do not understand the process.
- My DVD player tells me the format is not supported, and will not play.
- When I play the disc on my computer using VLC, I can see the picture but no sound.

I installed BD-Rebuilder per http://forum.doom9.org/ and was not successful.
- I have performed this in the past, but never tried to change a MKV to a BD format, which is where I think I am going wrong.

Any feedback would be great.

It's not free, but ConvertXtoVideo (http://www.vso-software.fr/products/vid ... -video.php) would do exactly what you'd want. I've been using it for almost a year and it works nicely and is constantly updated.

I don't see how a converter program is going to correct the problem the OP is having with his/her drive not being able to switch layers...

A single-layer BD is 25GB, and, like dual-layer DVDs, going beyond that requires that the laser refocus onto a different layer. If 25GB works, but 26GB fails, it is usually a disk or drive issue. Some older BD writers are limited to single-layer writing, but will read up to 4 layers.

I think you misunderstood the question.

It is more of a question on the easiest method to take an MKV and proceed to a Blu-Ray file format playable of your stand-alone player. (With maintaining DTS-HD Master)

I've never had the need to do what you're looking for but, on rare occasions, I use TSMuxer (http://www.videohelp.com/software/tsMuxeR) to create ISO's from BDs but the software can also take an MKV and remux to BD folder structure. Just tested on a MKV file, seems to work fine. I did not burn to a disc nor have the means to test this feature. Also, TSMuxer does not reduce file size on the fly and convert at the same time, ie <25G MKV to >25G BD folder. Hope this helps.

The OP is looking for a program that will convert an MKV file greater than 25GB to a single-layer BD structure. The program I mentioned will do exactly that.

I have no issues with a BD25 or BD50.

I was looking for a program which would convert MKV to BD structure without having any loss.

I think I found the solution with with the above mentioned software.
