Windows 10 causing fatal error running MakeMKV
Windows 10 causing fatal error running MakeMKV
Downloaded MakeMkv Beta 1.9.9. Installed fine but when I open it I get a Fatal Error has occurred, program will now exit. I am running Windows 10 64bit. Thanks.
Re: Program Not Responding
Windows 10 has issues, in that, without some intervention, it will make parts of MakeMKV inaccessible. Version 1.9.9 added some work-arounds, but they are not always successful. Most often, it is because the "free" virus scanner Microsoft includes in Win10 takes a quiet dislike to key files.

Re: Windows 10 causing fatal error running MakeMKV
I finally got the program not to crash, had to do with BitDefender. Now after getting that worked out the backup button is greyed out, and when I open File and try to backup that way, the backup button is greyed out also. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Re: Windows 10 causing fatal error running MakeMKV
I'm running BitDefender Total Security 2016 & Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Your setup is similar to mine, but mine is working...so, I'll ask, what exactly did you do to get MakeMKV working? Did you exclude the entire folder? Did you exclude all of the processes (.exes)? Details.
My settings (BitDefender): https://imgur.com/a/AEJfZ (Doubled one of my images, but it should suffice)

Re: Windows 10 causing fatal error running MakeMKV
Are you trying to back up a DVD or a BluRay? MakeMKV backs up Blurays, but not DVDs - the reasoning being that there are plenty of tools to perform a 1:1 backup of DVDs out there.
Re: Windows 10 causing fatal error running MakeMKV
I had the exact same problem and disabling Bitdefender before launching MakeMKV solved the problem for me. After MakeMKV is running, Bitdefender can be enabled again and everything works like a charm.

Re: Windows 10 causing fatal error running MakeMKV
"Backup" is a special function, available just for Bluray, that copies the BD file structure to the hard drive, optionally decrypting it. It doesn't create MKV files when you use this option, and your playback software has to understand BD file structures to work.
MakeMKV does not do that for DVD; it makes MKV files only.

I see this issue as well,
I took a long time to find a solution to this problem from this forum.
But the solution is not clear.
You can use the code below into notepad and save it to the extension .bat
Or download it here
