Windows 10 and MKV

Why can not this program made MKV files viewed directly in Windows 10?

Most likely you are trying to play a MKV that has audio or video encodings that you haven't installed players for on Win10. MKV is a file format; it can contain lots of different media types that you still have to have support for.

MP4 has a rather limited number of codecs it supports. MKV has fewer restrictions.

Try playing the MKV file in something that includes more codec support. VLC from videolan.org plays just about anything a DVD or BD could produce in an MKV file. It will also tell you what codecs are contained in the file, in its Information screen (Ctrl-I).
