Hi,
LOTR "Fellowship" Blu-Ray rips and plays OK but "Two Towers" and "Return of the King" rips do not play...They both crash Windows Media Center and Media Player Classic apps.
I select DTS-MA audio only and no subtitles.
eac3to/mkvmerge works fine on all three blu-ray movies.
Thanks.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy with v1.5.4
Re: Lord of the Rings Trilogy with v1.5.4
I have done all three with no problems. Are you ripping from the original bluray disks?
Re: Lord of the Rings Trilogy with v1.5.4
Yes...Original blu-ray disks.
Are you using v1.5.4 ?
Did you select DTS-MA and subtiles ?
I tried on 2 PCs one 64-bit and one 32-bit but the "title00" file just crashes Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic Home.
"Fellowship" rips fine.
I am using the registered version (paid for) of MakeMKV.
-Thanks.

I ripped all 3, and converted to MP4/AAC. They worked perfect and we watched all 3, finished return of the king last night.
Re: Lord of the Rings Trilogy with v1.5.4
Had exactly the same problem as the OP, and traced the issue to the 'splitter' being used by the player.
As I want bitstream audio from my MKV's I used MPC-HC as the player. This has worked perfectly until the LOTR trilogy, where Fellowship is fine but the 2 other films crashed the player. Clicking the splitter option in MPC-HC would result in the film either playing, or not playing, but then caused issues in films with TrueHD soundtracks.
The ultimate answer was to install the latest Haali splitter (27/3/10 I think). Now all the films play properly with HD bitstreamed sound. Hope this sets you along the right track

@markb
Hi!
With the two different methods, were your audio and subtitle selections identical?

Re: Lord of the Rings Trilogy with v1.5.4
Yes identical...Video, HD Audio, Chapter with both rips...No subtitles.
The MakeMKV rip is about 80 bytes larger than the eac3to/mkvmerge rip.
-Thanks

I also have this problem with 1.6.8 - The Two Towers and Return of The King won't play, while Fellowship of the Ring is fine.
