[Request] Backup feature for DVD

Post by Kdmeizk »

Hello,

Is it possible to make available the backup feature for Bluray to DVD? I would like to get the original structure of the DVD, like it seems possible for Bluray.

"Backup" is not as needed for DVD as BD, because there are dozens of tools out there that will do it already, for all the popular operating systems.

Many players (software and hardware) can directly access an ISO file made from copying a DVD, without bothering to decrypt it. But a quick search on Google found a half-dozen utilities for Windows that would decrypt the data as the ISO was created, leaving a "disk" that could be played by virtually anything that understands a DVD structure... which it would have to, if you want menus.

Of course there are many other software to do that, but it is to centralize the process under MakeMKV. I have several DVD locked by the region. I assume, without decrypt, DVD to DVD will stay locked to the other.

Without decrypting, yes, you're still subject to region limitations and such. However, there is a program I found several years ago called "BDlot ISO Master" that took both the region coding and CSS encryption off as part of the ISO creation.

Who knows.... Maybe Mike will decide to put something like that in. But he's said no before.

Yes I hope it will add this feature. But I am probably with few, a rare person who doesn't want too much software in its computer.
