The "community" is Mike... and you might want to explain why you want what you want.

Take into account these factors:

1) It takes the same amount of time to read the title off the disk and only save the audio/subtitle/chapter information as it does to save all of it.
2) There are several tools that allow you to strip those parts out of the resulting file after the fact, and even to merge them in with different video.

Thus it is already possible to take, say, a foreign language BD and merge in audio/subtitles/chapters from a local-language DVD.

1) The video is the file that is larger inside the DVD / BD, so the hard disk writing time will also be higher.
2) The tools available for audio extraction, subtitles and chapters are old, no longer receive updates and in the case of subtitles, the extracted file is not the IDX / SUB, as MakeMKV does.

Sorry for my english...

1. If you are not receiving "Application reads data faster than it can be written" errors from MakeMKV, stripping out the video is not going to decrease the write times during the rip, since reading from the optical disk limits speed. And, since you have to read everything anyway, it is of little benefit, other than reducing size. You will still need to separate out the "non-video" tracks afterwards.

2. mkvtoolnix was updated to version 8.8.0 on 10 January 2016... How is this "not maintained"? Arguably, it gets more frequent updates than MakeMKV, and it can handle some types of data within an MKV file that MakeMKV does not bother with.

There is no way for either of us to tell if Mike will consider this. But, it is worth considering alternate work flows to accomplish the same thing, if he decides not to.

The mkvtoolnix does demux files. It does the job to merge the files. I usually use DVD Decrypter to extract the tracks, plus it saves subtitles in .IFO / VOB format.I must use another program to extract subtitles in IDX / SUB.
