Hi! Im a newbie what comes to the av tech and ripping... i have some dvd:s and they seems to use mpeg2 format. I want to store dvd's to the harddrive as being originals (quality, compatibility..). Should i leave the files as they comes from makemkv?

All DVDs use MPEG2 for video. Audio can be AC-3, PCM, DTS or MP2.

What MakeMKV puts into the MKV files is the original streams, unaltered. You can happily put them back onto a DVD, also unaltered, and they'll play fine.

Normally I prefer to keep Blu Rays as they come directly from the disc, but I tend to filter DVDs (and some damaged Blu Rays) using AVISynth to improve their watchability. That may be a bit much for you though, so yes, you should keep the files as MakeMKV outputs them, unless you find reason to do otherwise.
